¡Hola Mundo! Welcome, to what I call my creative corner. Ever since I was kid I always thought of myself as a boundless DREAMER, always thought it was kind of my superpower. I thought that while I could dream I would have the best reasons and motivations to create something out of myself, always pushed myself to have goals set and built a perception of whom I wanted to become someday. Today, I am 28 (almost 29 does that count? lol!) and yeah some of you must consider me pretty young to be talking about life or even talk about professional experiences, though I know one thing that I can finally cross of my list before my thirties I TOOK A CHANCE IN LIFE.
I was 22 when I graduated from college decided to look for the perfect job and a reasonable salary for a starter. Found one and after two years of working in a great and important Communication Company I realized I wasn’t fully satisfied; I worked pretty hard more hours than I was told to, completed more work than what I was actually given and always recognized for it and I had a great relationship with my co-workers, I was even being promoted to manage a whole department that in another life I would have died for, so actually there wasn’t any problem. Sometimes though, even when everything just seems to be working out fine, we find ourselves ready for a change. So this was where it all began, I decided to take a chance in life an let my entrepreneurial soul take over! I launched the first digital magazine in my country, this took what was one of my hobbies into a full time job and there it was, photography, the answer to all my questions! That is what I wanted to wake up to everyday that was my Monday motivation to get out of bed after a long weekend. I wanted to be a full-time photographer! Story short, my husband (yes! I am happily married and we are expecting our first little one to arrive by the end of this month! I know so much to tell you guys but we will leave this for another blog post) and I moved to Indiana and I started out doing family portraits, some weddings on the side while maintaining my magazine back at home. After a while I felt like my creativity was craving for more, I wanted to make backdrops, wanted to have a crazy edgy concept, those you see on Vogue or those high-end magazines all the time. And as cliché as it may sound, I wanted and want to be in Vogue one day! Fashion was the answer, fashion photography was/is my thing!
After finding my focus and purpose in my photography career we moved to Portland, OR this is where it all started for me. I would’ve never imagined how big and growing the fashion industry was here, I had the chance to be part of Portland Fashion Week where I met amazing talents, photographers, models, bloggers and make-up artists who today I call my closest friends and dream team! I began to reach out to different agencies, read Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso over and over again and convinced myself I would be my own version of a Girl Boss! I slowly got myself known, networked, made contacts, clients, small recognitions here and there, and publications on international magazines. Even though I would never dare to say I made it already, I am happy of where I am today. It’s not easy to find your way in a country that is not yours, that no one knows you or your work, where every artist is already established and you have to try to stand out in-between so much talent, no one tells you how hard it will be!
No one tells you, how hard it is to make that “dream” happen but honestly it’s the best investment you can make in yourself! Dare to believe YOU WILL MAKE IT! Dare to dream and have more than one dream! Photography and entrepreneurship are mine; today I own my photography brand and I just co-founded with my brother a global marketplace for stock imagery called incamara where we are building an amazing community of creatives and taking that passion other artists have into a business. I am still on the path to building my dreams, to make things happen, to become that #GirlBoss, not even close to being “there” yet but I know I am on my way, and all because took a chance on opportunities that make me happy.
The reason why I wanted to share this with you today is because I want you to get to know me, not just see my work and what I do through my photography, I don’t want to go for likes or to re-direct you to my social media accounts. I want to make a conversation, hear back from you, please share your dreams, your passions, your story I want to know it all this is what my blog post is all about! Let’s share our stories; let’s have a real conversation today where technology is no longer letting us have one. Thank you for visiting my page and hope you will stop by again!
